Overview: Online Hazardous Substances Regulation 4.5 eLearning Training Modules (Self-Paced)
These learning modules cover training in accordance with the requirements of Regulation 4.5 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017. Module 1: Health and Safety at Work Hazardous Substance Responsibilities
This module gives an introduction to your responsibilities, an overview on the role of WorkSafe and your liability when it comes to working with hazardous substances.
Module 2: Classification of Hazardous Substances
This module will go through the health risks you must be aware of, classifications and sub classes of hazardous substances and how to understand the degree of danger.
Module 3: Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
This module explains what safety data sheets are, how to access them and their requirements. You will also learn the information contained in a (SDS) safety data sheet and the information that must also go into the site inventory register.
Module 4: Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)
This module covers storage, handling, and the Personal Protective Equipment that is required when working with LPGs. It also covers training on connecting LPGs to forklifts and the steps that must be followed in the event of an LPG emergency.
Module 5: Flammable Liquids
This module serves as an introduction to flammable liquids and covers storage, hazardous atmosphere zones, cabinets, mixing rooms and secondary containment. It also explains how to handle these liquids, decanting, what types of fire extinguishers to use and what to do in an emergency related to flammable liquids.
Module 6: Spills
This module covers what to do in the event of a chemical spill, how to identify the risks involved, the PPE gear to use and clean up procedures.
